Make Yummy Dreidels for your Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt

Celebrate the Festival of Lights this year in a way you never have before! Treat your kids to an exciting Riddle Me Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt that’ll have them looking for all kinds of hidden yummies like pretzels, caramels and Hershey’s kisses. Just stash the items at stops along the Riddle Me hunt trail.

But the fun’s not over when the hunt is… gather up your little treasure hunters and all of the goodies they found so they can put the pieces together and make their very own edible Dreidels! It’s a toy and a snack in one!

Here’s how to make them:

Step 1: Gather up all your materials. You will need: pretzel sticks, caramels (make sure they are the cube-type), Hershey’s kisses, frosting, toothpicks and an edible marker.

Step 2: Unwrap a caramel and shape it into a cube if it is not already. Using a toothpick, poke a hole exactly in the middle and wiggle it a little to create a starter hole for the pretzel stick.

Step 3: Take a pretzel stick and break about ¼ of it off the end. Push the pretzel stick in the hole on the caramel and press until it’s about midway down.

Step 4: Using an edible marker, draw the Hebrew letters on the sides of the caramel cube. You can find these symbols easily by searching on the internet. Here’s one site that includes the rules to playing the game (http://www.chabad.org/holidays/chanukah/article_cdo/aid/597253/jewish/Dreidel-Instructions.htm).

Step 5: Place a dollop of frosting on the opposite end of the caramel cube (using frosting that comes in a tube with a decorator tip will make this easier). Unwrap a Hershey’s kiss and press into the frosting with the point facing down. Allow to dry.

Step 6: Spin away! And when you’re done playing… pop ‘em in your mouth and enjoy a salty sweet treat!

You may want some M&M’s, Skittles, or Smarties for small game pieces that players use for the game. You can include those in the Hanukkah scavenger hunt as well so they have more items to find!

  1. I found your Make Yummy Dreidels for your Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt. It mentions making these after your Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt but doesn’t have any information on the Hunt itself and how to do it. There is no search field to use and I couldn’t find anything in the listing of hunts on the right side of the page. Is there a written Hanukkah Scavenger Hunt?

Hi Mollie, there isn’t a specific Hanukkah hunt but you can customize a hunt to use Hanukkah related background images and other things to have the feel of Hanukkah in your hunt. The object and riddle selection are normal and you just customize the experience.
